I have GL-AR300M router. I have a requirement to download & run binary on this router. Before running the binary on router I want to make sure the router model is AR300M. I want to know where to read router model using PuTTY.

@glitch, tried searching for this thread but I couldn’t find it…could you give me a link if possible? Thanks.

@alzhao On my device (AR300M) green is hardcoded for power, has this changed on newly produced models?

use this code:
cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep -i "machine" | awk -F ": " '{print $2}'

Reply To: DHCP Clients Show IPs from Main Network
Hi,
It is highly likely that it is related to this bug:
Bug report: MT300N-V2 FW 2.261 – DHCPv6 still active in bridge mode
On reboot if bridge mode is selected with the switch, if the GL does not get a DHCP IP address (in your case a 10.0.0.x from your other router) on its WAN port before the switch_mode script is run then it sets its own IP address to 192.168.8.1 address and switches it’s DHCP server on. Because in this mode the LAN and WAN of the GL are bridged, the DHCP service advertisement leaks out of the WAN port back to clients on your LAN and this causes a DHCP race with your other router where where some of your clients inevitably get allocated 192.168.8.x addresses by the GL instead of 10.0.0.x addresses from your router.
This has been reported as a bug but for the mean time you can edit /usr/bin/switch_mode and comment out the line that re-enables the DHCP server. If you need help to do this let me know.
thanks,
Oli.
Reply To: [BUG] Mango V2. Custom DNS "Force all clients" option doesn't work after reboot.
On the meanwhile (waiting for an update), a middle fix is adding the line ‘/etc/init.d/firewall restart’ to the /etc/rc.local file so as to force the firewall restart at the end of the boot process.
DNS Servers on my GL-AR300M Router?
How do I <span style=”color: #555555; font-family: ‘Lucida Grande’, ‘Lucida Sans’, ‘Lucida Sans Unicode’, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;”>configure my DNS servers on your GL-AR300M router?</span>
Feature Request
I’m quite happy with the latest firmware. I have some few nice to have feature in future firmware release.
– Shadowsocks UI
– Adblock Feature and UI
– Support fr DNScrypt and its interface in Default UI
thanks and more power

Hi Buddy.
Did you bother to read the Docs section? I found it there in less than 30 seconds!
Reply To: Failover from DSL to a usb cellular modem
Dear alzhao, Would you be kind enough to explain what you mean by “set up the usb modem work as ttyUSB model (not qmi) mode” and how does one achieve this? I am currently using the latest firmware version 2.261 on both my MT300N-v2 and AR300M. Thank you in advance for your help in clarifying this.</span>
Build a AR300M Lite Custom Firmware
Hi,
I’m trying to build a custom firmware for AR300m lite. I’m following this https://www.gl-inet.com/docs/mini/ar300m/#build-the-firmware but im kinda lost, on many options. going forward i might miss important prerequisites or options. Is there a template based on the default latest firmware? I would like to start from there and removing the features that will not needed for my application such as cloud, share, video, etc. Thanks in advance.

Thank you! Yes I would need help commenting that out, is there a how-to anywhere?
Also, just to be clear, the devices that are showing up with the 10.0.0.X IP as DHCP clients are NOT connected to this router, but they are showing up as they are. This should fix it?
Reply To: Disable RED LED
I think your original post is confusing everyone 😉
The red led is the left most when holding the unit with the ethernet ports towards you and seems to be configured as the WiFi led by default in a mode to be on with NO traffic and flashing OFF with traffic. My reply above shows how you can control all three using Luci UI, at least in the latest LEDE firmware. If included in the GL firmware it will be under Advanced options.
MiFi maximum throughput, no 4G?
Hi,
I am using a gl-mifi with a Quectel EC25-E in Singapore. My service provider uses LTE B3 and B7, and on my phone I am able to get upwards of 65 Mbps on the downlink (I don’t remember uplink but its similar). However, when I use my Sim card in the gl-mifi, I am consistently getting 21 Mbps on both the uplink and the downlink, which makes me suspect that the modem is only using 3G. I have the gl-mifi hooked up via Ethernet cable from the LAN port to my PC. I have tried using the AT command recommended in https://gl-inet.com/docs/mini/mifi/ to limit the modem to LTE, but I didn’t see any change in the speed. Also, if I run uqmi -d /dev/cdc-wdm0 –get-signal-info, the OS reports
{
“type”: “lte”,
“rssi”: -61,
“rsrq”: -7,
“rsrp”: -88,
“snr”: 192
}
SNR seems wrong, but otherwise it looks like LTE. So a couple of questions.
1) How can I debug this further to maybe check whether LTE is really being used.
2) What is the maximum uplink and downlink speeds I can expect? Is the speed somehow limited by the modem-ar9331 interface, or perhaps somewhere else?
thanks,
Aaron

Are you using QMI mode? Maybe it is because of the signal?
21Mbps is definitely 4G
Reply To: Disable RED LED
@wifird, actually all LEDs are configurable. We hardcored in some models but we found that it is not the best solution. So we will use configurable LEDs. But the power LED will still be always on by software control. You will be able to turn off or configure manually.

If you use our github, you will find there is a “GL config” in “menuconfig”. Not sure about the name, but it should be just under target and subsystem etc.
Reply To: Feature Request
The first feature will be available in our UI 3.x
The 2nd and 3rd is not yet implemented. We may add the 3rd. But for adblock we prefer not to touch it. The current adblock is very basic and don’t think it is valuable.
Reply To: AR300M-Lite clean firmware
Right, we will make clean firmware for AR300M-Lite. So much to do recently.
For MT300-V2, WiFi throughput is around 80 to 90 on my iphone 6s. For cpu, openvpn encryption is up to 13 compared to 8 of v1.
