A wall or shelf mounting plastic rack that a number of the standard mini router cases could clip into would be very useful for IoT developments 😉

Say four at a time and a four port USB power supply for the set.

Each one clipping in on end with the ethernet ports facing forward and the USB data port facing upwards.

Perfect 🙂

Anyone got a 3D printer?

GL-MT300N-V2 firmware update confusion

Hi,

I just bought a GL-MT300N-V2 and it came with firmware 2.26 and I set it up OK, I then wanted to upgrade it to 2.264 but it wouldn’t download from within the web gui so I went to the download section of the git and flashed “lede-mt300n-v2-clean-2.264” and now the interface is very very different and I can’t find the Open VPN section at all.

Where can I get the default firmware flash file from?

Thanks

Not if you only need one or a few but it very much adds up when you need large numbers.

The problem with the curve is that we cannot affix labels that look professional for the company that we prepare these things for. They end up curling on the ends and I’ve been told to change hardware and find a flat surfaced one again. I’ve resisted, so far.

We put our product labels on top of the existing GLi labels on the bottom and they stick well.

For individual site related labels we use a standard tape type of label machine and they also stick on the curved top very well so perhaps is is down to getting the correct type of adhesive on the labels……

Yep, seen all that.

I tried a third time and must have bricked it as I couldn’t get it to do anything after the last flash.  I then tried the Uboot approach with a serial to USB lead and Putty but I always got garbled text from the router even though the baud rate was set to 115200.

I then read down to the bottom of the page and found the Web UI for the boot and flash …… ARGHHH! why wasn’t this at the top of the page?????

I then flashed, with the WEB UI uboot,  the same 2.264 bin file I tried earlier (in your link) and then it worked and was at the latest firmware, all is now well.

Perhaps. I’m certainly open to suggestions. However, it seems you are talking about a label.

In our case, it is a sticker which covers most of the surface area and are colored. We put them on the top because we don’t want to hide the factory info.

We usually just order them from a pro printing shop.

Mifi Connection to Google Project Fi

I’m running Mifi with firmware 2.264. I cannot for the life of me get the tethering working. As far as I know, setting the carrier to T-Mobile, the APN to h2g2, and the service to fdd-lte. But no matter what I do, I get that the SIM card isn’t working correctly. Does anyone have Project Fi working correctly with their Mifi?

Generally the errors doesn’t matter in uboot.

When you see “don’t see the ethernet interfaces” what do you mean? In uboot or firmware? What is the detailed problem?

Wifi Sometimes Keeps Turning Off and On….

I have my router AR300M in Repeater Mode. Basically I am repeating a Wi-Fi signal. The problem I am experiencing is that sometimes the WiFi Signal disappears then comes back on and keeps going through this on and off cycle. I have to switch off and on the router a few times before this settles down.  What could be the problem?

This works on my ar300m (including turning off the power led) but it should work on any of them:

find /sys/devices/platform/leds-gpio/leds/ -name brightness -exec sh -c “echo 0 > {}” \;

to turn them back on (except for power) I use:

/etc/init.d/led start

If you want to turn the power led back on change 0 to 255 in the first find command above.

I put these in cron to turn them off at night and back on during the day.

I’m also getting this sometimes. Also, I’d say around 50% of the the time, I have to manually reconnect the VPN as it won’t auto-reconnect. This is with PIA as well. I downloaded the latest OVPN config files from their (PIA) server last evening. I’m using the “STRONG” set of files as I really want AES-256-CBC as the cipher.

I also get the error log messages about inconsistent ciphers but the VPN does come up, and function normally. I’m just concerned with the error log messages and they have been happening consistently and regularly, so there’s definitely something amiss. This also happens with even the “default” OVPN profiles provided by PIA; the error messages are not exactly the same but both mention cipher mismatches and the like.

Would it be possible for the company to take a look at this? PIA is very cheap to try you can buy 1-month for like a $5 bill if you don’t want a long term commitment but I just buy the year or two and be done with it. It’s the most widely used (by far) so should be the most rock-solid and stable of the providers but there appears to be some real issues with the connection to them.
